NAGLFAR was formed in 1992 by chief instigators Jens Ryden and Kristoffer Olivius. During their early years, the band often suffered the usual problems with line-up changes and revolving members, but, despite this, NAGLFAR managed to record and release their now-classic demo Stella Trajectio. Word of this stunning demo's ferocity spread like wildfire throughout the underground, and eventually reached the offices of Wrong Again Records. A contract was forged in blood and semen (or was that some other band??), resulting in Vittra, the band's magnificent debut album that was unleashed in late 1995.
In August 1997, NAGLFAR returned to the studio, bringing with them new drummer Mattias Grahn, and unleashed two epic songs, When Autumn Storms Come and The Brimstone Gate, and released the two as a limited edition picture EP. This precious piece of plastic wasn't around long, and eventually sold out completely. In January and February of 1998, NAGLFAR decided not to wait any longer, and recorded their second full-length album, entitled Diabolical, this time for the newely formed WAR Music label. Diabolical's guitar work weaves sonic tapestries from hell, while commanding rhythm patterns seem to almost project visions of pagan warriors going absolutely berserk. But forget not the vocals of Jens Ryden, as his tormented screams will bring back every nightmare you've ever had!!
In comparison to Vittra, Diabolical is even faster, and more intense, retaining the special feel for melody that proves the Swedish origin of this ferocious five-piece. Always a popular attraction on the live circuit, NAGLFAR recently embarked on a European tour together with BRUTAL TRUTH, DEICIDE and SIX FEET UNDER, and were met with rousing approval by those in attendance. Please remember that NAGLFAR is meant purely for listeners who are able to confront the powers of darkness...as their name is also the moniker of the cruise vessel that will carry us all to Ragnarok (and world downfall!). This ship, built from the nails of dead men slain in heroic battle is detailed in the book of Eddan, an ancient source of Viking wisdom.
